ARILD HAUGE’S RUNES

As a special service to English speaking visitors, I have made this summary about Runes and Viking related stuff in English.

Please note that there are a lot of more information on the Norwegian written part of ARILD HAUGE’S RUNES", where several of the the runic inscriptions also have an English interpretation.

On this site you find the Scandinavian meaning of the word rune, in plurals runes and runic in specific shape, as a Font Character in the Norse Futhark and the Anglosaxon Futhorc, which is a kind of an alphabeth.

The Norse word rune has several meanings, and can also mean Font Character, learning, poetry, mysteries, secret knowledge, confidential or whispered conversation, sorcery characters. It is also a Norwegian name for a type of Finnish folk verse found in Kallevalla, called "Runer".
